The Master of Arts program offered by the Department of Telecommunication & Film is an independent program that is coordinated with programs offered by the other departments in the College of Communication and Information Sciences: Advertising and Public Relations, Communication Studies, and Journalism. These programs are subject to requirements established by the Graduate School of The University of Alabama.

Supervision of the TCF graduate program is the responsibility of the Department chairperson, who has designated a member of the TCF faculty to be coordinator of the program. The coordinator serves as chairperson of the Departmental Graduate Studies Committee, comprised of three faculty members. The Graduate Studies Committee oversees the admission of students and makes recommendations on program policies to the faculty.
