Adam Schwartz is an Alabama native filmmaker and UA alum who most enjoys narrative fiction film but has also worked in documentary and animation.  His primary research interests include film and video production, parody and satire, scripted television production, digital storytelling, digital technology, media psychology, and interactive media.  While in New Orleans in 2006, he co-directed Watermarks, a short drama set in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which went on to win Best Docudrama at the 2006 Southern Appalachian Film Festival and screen at other film festivals throughout the south including the New Orleans Film Festival and the Oxford Film Festival.  In addition to his work in film and video, Schwartz produced a 50 episode animated series called The Adventures of Captain Judgment for the Coping Power Program, a preventative intervention program for behavioral at-risk children in late elementary school and early middle school.

He recently completed Torch, a short documentary highlighting what was once one of Birmingham, Alabama’s most unusual landmarks – a 56-foot tall iron statue of Vulcan, the Roman god of the forge, holding a neon green light that turned red in the event of a traffic fatality.  The film will screen at various film festivals throughout the southeast.
