Dr. Fran Kaplan - Producer
Fran Kaplan co-wrote, translated and produced a series of parenting education
videos in Spanish and English, distributed by Family Development Resources,
Inc. and Gold Bell Productions.
An educator and social activist for thirty-six years, Dr. Kaplan received
her Master in Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and her
Doctor of Education from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. During
the last fifteen years her work has focused on preventing child abuse, helping
parents and teachers learn to be more nurturing to children, and assisting
them in raising a healthy next generation despite the challenges inherent
in today’s society. Fran has considerable experience in program development,
management, fundraising, community organizing, and working with underrepresented
and disadvantaged communities.
Director Aaron Greer put Dr. Kaplan’s expertise to good use in the
making of Gettin’ Grown. As a producer Fran coordinated and managed
the cast, art department, locations, permits, volunteer craft services,
and shoot schedule, and assisted with casting, production design, and other
creative decisions.
