Zhong Chen Director of Photography
Zhong Chen’s documentary work has won national awards in his native
China and has screened in international film festivals American. In 1999,
Chen was nominated for the Golden Reel Award at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific
Film and the Kodak Best at the New York EXPO of and Video.
Zhong worked for Chinese Television for five years before coming to the
United States in 1999 to earn his MFA in film from Temple University. He
is currently at work on his first feature-length narrative film as the writer,
producer and director.
Gettin’ Grown’s director, Aaron Greer, chose Chen as the film’s
DP, because he wanted the film to have a somewhat documentary look. Zhong
attributes his uncanny steadiness with a handheld camera to the years of
Tai Chi training he had as a school child in China.
